Sheep Mountain Lodge is an absolute gem and staying here is unforgettable experience! Nestled in one of the most beautiful locations I’ve ever seen, with breathtaking mountain views in every direction. The cabins were cozy, spotless, and the perfect place to relax after a day of adventure. One of the things that truly impressed me was how accommodating they were with food. As a vegan, I sometimes struggle to find good options in remote locations, but Sheep Mountain Lodge exceeded all expectations. They offered delicious plant-based meals. But the absolute highlight of my stay was the helicopter tour with the owner of the lodge, Mark. It was beyond anything I could have imagined! Flying over glaciers, dramatic peaks, and untouched wilderness was surreal. Mark’s knowledge and passion for Alaska made the experience even more special—he didn’t just show the sights, he shared fascinating insights about the land, history, and wildlife. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that I will never forget.Sheep Mountain Lodge is more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience. The combination of warm hospitality, incredible scenery, thoughtful food options, and world-class adventures makes it an absolute must-visit. I can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely be coming back!

My wife and I loved our winter getaway here at Sheep Mountain Lodge. My wife had briefly visited the lodge in the summertime on her way out to a geology field camp, and we both enjoyed our March visit here. Our classic cabin had everything we needed for our two-night stay and the food at the lodge is great. We particularly enjoyed the nice, large hot tub. It has its own little room and you can sign up for time slots, so there's a certain sense of privacy even though it's not in your room. The staff is also very friendly and accomodating. We went on a really fun snowmobile tour with Ryan at Alaska Mountain Tours and we hope to come back one day and do a helicopter tour!

My wife and I eloped at Sheep Mountain Lodge and had a phenomenal experience.Mark, the owner, pilot, photographer, and officiant, is extremely personable and very good at everything he does. My wife and I never felt unsafe in the helicopter, all the photos he took of us were stunning, and he did a great job officiating such a special moment for the both of us!Steve, who handles the rooms and customer service, was very friendly and very accommodating. As soon as we got to our room our dog got nervous and peed the bed, but we apologized and told Steve about it before our flight and by the time we got back we had fresh sheets!

Beautiful location. We had a great time exploring all of the Nordic trails. Saw moose every day. The food that we ordered was awesome. We will definitely be back.

Did a helicopter tour to the glacier to see Ice Caves, didn't stay at the hotel since it was full. Tour was fantastic, pilot/guide, and all the other staff were fantastic, super friendly and welcoming. Fantastic value and the best part of our trip to Alaska.

This has to be one of my all time favorite remote Alaska getaways, especially in winter. It's an easy drive from Anchorage, yet a world away, surrounded by snow covered mts and trails and northern lights. The cabins are cute, warm, and efficient, on well-water and septic. The restaurant is great (order room service in winter). The hot tub is a treat. They allow dogs. Staff are super, owners are attentive to the property and guests. Trails are not extensive, but they are good, and enough to get out to bike hike or ski. Oh, and don't forget the helicopter and snow machine tours!! I hope every Alaskan can take a getaway here.
